During the induction period you will learn about some of the important skills needed for success in IB Biology.
This is important information to help you choose HL or SL and to develop your skills.

 

Key Skills for IB Biology Assessment Activity
Ability to memorise facts

Learning characteristics of water which are important to living organisms.

Skill in the use of Biological Apparatus

Microscope use and making of onion cell slides.

Measuring and Sampling Experiment

An understanding of statistics &

Use of Excel for experiment reports

Written communication skills.

Detailed experiment to measure size of cells.
Working with diagrams Drawing, learning, annotating, interpreting and understanding diagrams of Biological Molecules.
Applying factual knowledge to new examples. Learning sizes of cell parts and using this to answer exam questions
Understanding of key issues in the nature of Science Short presentations in the usefulness of Cell Theory & understanding how evidence can support or contradict.

At the end of this period, a summary of your achievements and areas for improvement will be given to the IB coordinator.
