Mitosis
PROPHASE -
- DNA coils up - forming chromosomes
- Centrioles move to opposite ends of the cell
- Nuclear membrane disappears / spindle starts to form.
METAPHASE -
- Nuclear membrane has disappeared.
- Chromosomes line up on the spindle.
- Centromeres attach to microtubules.
ANAPHASE -
- Centromeres split (divide)
- Spindle microtubules pull the identical sister chromatids
to opposite ends of the cell.
TELOPHASE -
- Spindle tubules breakdown
- Nuclear membrane re-forms
- cell starts to divide (cytokinesis).
INTERPHASE -
- DNA synthesis happens
- Chromosomes are uncoiled
- Nucleolus is visible
